Need an Excuse?

The Reunion Committee has been amazed to learn how many of us didn't enjoy a good high school experience.  In fact, you'd be amazed if we named names. Consequently, there are those who've expressed a reticence to come to the reunion and may not have attended past reunions for that reason.  High school seems to have been a microcosm of the "school of hard knocks" that befits the world we live in, and the experiences life has presented along the way.   Although those experiences formed who we are today, we hope that time and life have healed some of those wounds, and that you'll join us and find that all of us have changed just a little.  In case you're still thinking about it, we're offering a list of possible unacceptable excuses.  :)

Is There A Good Excuse?

If you’re not coming to the reunion, you need a good excuse and a note from your Mom. The following reasons have been tried and are unacceptable.

Excuse #1: I'm overweight.

Rebuttal: You're not alone. Note T-shirt sizes being offered. (actually we're not ordering T-shirts, but if we were)

Excuse #2: I'm a different person than I was in high school.

Rebuttal: Lucky for you, we ALL are. Let's face it: we could only have improved.

Excuse #3 I don't look as good as I'd like. I (choose one or more) am bald, have wrinkles, saddlebags, grey hair and no one will recognize me.

Rebuttal: Guess what! You won't recognize anyone else, either. Using the reunion committee as a representative sample, our whole class looks like a "before" photo in a plastic surgery ad.

Excuse #4: I'm not successful, I'm not (choose one or more) a CEO, CFO, COO, CPA, President, VP, doctor, lawyer, entrepreneur, or rich.

Rebuttal: You'll be pleasantly surprised to find how much everyone has matured. We may be plump and wrinkled but we're not stupid. Money, things and titles do not necessarily deem success. Character, joie de vivre and how you treat your fellow man go a lot farther: if you’re in doubt about the latter, then ask your family.

Excuse #5: I wasn't in a popular clique in school.

Rebuttal: Now that we're older and smart, those cliques have dissolved just like the superficialities they were based on. The only “cliques” you'll notice at the reunion will be the sound of your joints as you walk around.

Excuse #6: It seems like all the classmates drink alcohol at the reunion.

Rebuttal: Not all of us drink - plain and simple. Some of us only have a few drinks at the reunion to relax (cause we're nervous) but if you don't want to drink alcohol there'll be plenty of other drinks available. And at this age, hardly any of us drink anymore.

Excuse #7: I'm old and tired.

Rebuttal: Who isn't?  We're not 18 anymore. Heck, we're not even 50 although we may feel like it on the inside

Excuse #8: I have health and medical problems.

Rebuttal:  You're excused, but you will be missed, and thought about!

SEE YOU THERE?     SEE YOU THERE!!!
